Kitchen redo- part 2

Well, the plan was to live with my painted black tile for awhile, but it was driving me crazy. So I did a little research online trying to find another option for the backsplash. I found a picture that I loved. They had used wainscoting as a backsplash. Once again it took a little convincing to get Brent on board with the idea. He wasn't thrilled with the idea, but being the smart husband that he is, he went along with it. So here's me painting the kitchen....BACK to red.

Here's a close up of the wainscoting. I LOVE how it turned out. Brent also installed "motion activated" (he wanted to make sure I included that part) under cabinet task lighting.
So here's the almost final picture. (I should have waited until it was light outside to take the picture, but i was too impatient) I want to recover the bar stools with some fun fabric, but haven't found anything that i'm in love with yet. And i'm still searching for some red canisters, but other than that we are done. I love it!

On a completely separate note: Claire turns two this month! We took her crib down last week and she has been happy sleeping on a mattress on her floor. We'll get her toddler bed down soon. Out of all of our kids, she has made this adjustment the easiest. She stays on her mattress when it's nap time and bedtime. It's been great! Also today she kept saying "poopy, poopy." She's done this several times before and i've sat her on the potty but nothing has happened. Today Brent sat her on the potty and left her there even after she repeatedly yelled that she was done. Soon enough she yells "i did it!" And sure enough she did. We were pretty proud of our little 2 year old. I'm not feeling ready to potty train, but it looks like I might not have a choice. She's talking up a storm and says the cutest things. She can also throw a pretty decent tantrum...but we love her!

Oh my gosh, I LOVE the wainscot. What a great idea. The kitchen looks amazing, although I had to laugh at the fact that you painted it back to its previous color. That sounds like something I would do. And Brent, the motion activated lighting looks fantastic. You'll be the toast of all the Ditto brothers.

LOVE the red!! LOVE the backsplash!! LOVE the lights!! Yes, love it all......I think it looks great!

How excellent that Claire is starting the potty training idea! Koben is finally, finally, finally getting it, but refuses to wear underwear, he only wants pull-ups, even though he keeps them dry! Kids are so funny.

The backsplash looks awesome. Nice work, guys. You do make a good team. Is that the motion detector by the paper towel dispenser?

You two are very talented.

Oh my goodness!!! AMAZING!!! Deena you always come up with such great ideas. And Brent--you do such a good work preforming those good ideas!

So what happened to your vinyl lettering above the dining room door frame? Wasn't that in red?

Does IKEA have any red canisters?

Hooray for Claire and her big girlness!

GREat kitchen make over!!!! Maybe I should do that.... Is it easy to clean???
Both of my girls were way easy with the bed switch and the potty training. They were done with both about their 2nd birthday! Good luck!

I like Dad's comment, "I looks awesome!" I think he meant that "it" looks awesome, which it does. I could always paint a Green Goblin on the cupboards if you want.
