I'm losing my mind.

For the past few weeks, Malia has been telling me about her school's holiday concert. Her 1st grade class has been practicing a few songs for the program. Well, for the past few weeks I had it in my mind that the concert was Friday night at 7. Well, every Thursday a school newsletter comes home. At 6:55 I was looking over the letter and saw "CONCERT TONIGHT" on the front page. I started shouting orders. "Get your shoes on, Change your clothes, get a bottle!" In world record time we were in the van headed to Malia's school. We got to the school and hurried in...it was only then that I learned that the "Choir" concert is only for 4th and 5th grade students. The rest of the grades are performing at a "Winter Assembly" (heaven forbid you call it a Christmas assembly) during school on Friday morning. Nowhere in the newsletter or any other letter that I received did it say that the choir concert did not involve the whole school. How was I to know that the first graders don't have "choir". So we turned around and went back home. The school needs to remember that 1st graders aren't exactly good at remembering and passing along this type of information. Later that night I went to Hollywood video to get some vids for this weekend. (I thought the new Bourne movie was out, but it wasn't...dang!) I get up to the checkout counter with Evan Almighty and Ocean's thirteen. The guy proceeds to tell me that we still haven't turned in our movies from 8 days ago. What! How did I forget that. I'm seriously losing my mind. Brent tried to offer me his old Franklin so I could try and organize my life and brain. It seriously weighed 10lbs. And I don't need an extra 10lbs to lug around. So I will continue to write telephone numbers, and to do lists on random scraps of paper, or napkins, and hope I remember where I put them.

You are not losing your mind. You are just a busy mom! I fight the newsletter thing constantly with Chloe. Of course, it would help, if Koben would stop carrying it around the house!

Logan is always trying to get me to switch to a palm pilot planner thing, but I downright refuse. There's something much more "organic" about having all these pieces of paper with stuff scribbled on them. It's just the way I like to do things. Sounds like you have the same sickness.

Possibly this IS a contagious disease? I'm sure you don't really want another ideas...but I'll share anyways. Birch and I use the Microsoft Outlook program. We both put our stuff on it and he prints off a couple of weeks at a time (which fit perfectly in his old franklin) and since I am obsessed with the computer I also have a constant reminder. Works great when I put the scribbled napkin notes on the computer : )

Dawn has written about this same thing. I think it's a family trait!

I was actually talking to Twyla about this awhile back. She said her doctor told her that she wasn't losing her mind, she just had too much on her mind.
I am having Dad put one of Kaysha's coat rack things(must be a better name for it) by the front room door so I can hang my purse, keys, and maybe have a basket hanging where I can put my cell phone, etc there. I put things down and then I can't find them. And even though cell phones ring, it's hard to hear them when they are covered with a pillow or they are on the back deck or in the car!

Yeah, I am so glad I'm not the only one with that problem. The other day I was looking all over for my keys and realized that they were in my left hand. And I have to say there are so many papers that come home from school that I have started to ignore them all and put them in the recycling. Luckily my daughter in 3rd grade has an incredible memory.
